The 7th. of November 1943, in Tanger, Lotfi Akalay made his first shout. Many others would come.

From 1990 till 1994 Lotfi wrote tasty humoristic croniques for "Al Bayane" a newspaper for the working class.
Later he chose "La vie Economique" the mouthpiece of the business enviroment in the country.

In 1997 he wrote monthly humoristic essays for "Femmes du Maroc" the feministic magazine of Morrocco. In the meantime "Charlie-Hebdo" (a french newspaper) published his articles, Le Candidat in serial form during the summer of 1995.

In May 1996 he published his first novel "Les Nuits d'Azed" by "Seuil". It has been translated to 8 languages: Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Korean, Chinese and Turkish.

En June 1998 he published "Ibn Battouta, Prince des Voyageurs" by "Le Fennec" in Casablanca. A fascinating biography of the first tourist of the world and his fabulous journey.

Among all of his works, no doubt you find the best of his writing in the book "Les Nouvelles de Tanger". The satire, the humour and the false naïvity are badly hidden by an attentive compassion. An irresistible sense of details and expression shows a personal approach to Morrocco and to "Tanger the legendary" "his city" its traditions, its streets, its greatness and its inhabitants as well.
He never stops observing the countless faces of the humanity.
